Meet Our Music Teachers

Julie Wagner, originally from Cherry Hill, NJ, began her musical studies on the piano and strings  (violin, viola, cello, and bass ), starting at the age of 7.  She went on to earn her Bachelor’s of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory of Music and her Master’s and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the University of Maryland.  Before moving to San Diego, Julie regularly performed with various orchestras in the Washington, DC area. She has performed at many prestigious venues, such as Lincoln Center in New York City, the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, and the Kennedy Center and the Smithsonian in Washington, DC. As a music teacher, Julie has held several positions at many schools and local music groups, like the San Diego Youth Symphony, working worth students of all ages, from 3 to adult.

“Ms. Julie”’s approach to teaching reflects her belief that enjoyment and understanding are key ingredients for musical education.  Her desire is to foster a sense of musical appreciation while imparting the knowledge and skills to make each student successful.

Steven Kramer

Steven began his musical studies on piano at age 7.  He built his musical foundation on this instrument.  From there, he was inspired to branch out into wind instruments. Steven’s passion for music led him to New York City where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Music from Columbia University, while also studying at the prestigious Juilliard School. He also went on to earn a Master’s degree from Yale University’s School of Music.

Steven has performed professionally with ensembles up and down the east coast. He has appeared in major concert venues across the country including Carnegie Hall in New York City, and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. As a music teacher, Steven encourages students to explore all areas of music, and always strives to foster individuality and creativity in his students.
