Guitar is a hugely popular choice for aspiring musicians of any age.  What is it about the guitar that makes it so appealing?  No instrument beats the guitar in it’s versatility: from classical to pop, you can play anything on the guitar.  The guitar is a perfect instrument for playing by ear and improvising, so you can learn to play the songs you love right away.

So many adults dream of learning the guitar, but so few actually do.  Why is that?  Because they think:

• I can’t actually do it, it’s just a dream.
• It’s too difficult.
• I’d have to get a guitar, where would I even get a guitar?

But the truth is:

• You CAN do it, we will help make the dream come true
• It’s not as hard as you think, you just have to take the first step
• You can rent or purchase a guitar from our partner, and have it delivered right to our studio, easy.

• Adults who learned guitar as a child, and are ready to give it another try.

• Retirees who have always wanted to play guitar, and now have the time to pursue their dream.
• Anyone with a love for music, who wants to experience the joy of creating music themselves

 What makes our approach to teaching adults different?

Most music teachers have a couple of adult students here and there, and the truth is, they really don’t know what to do with them. Why? Because they don’t have the experience to understand just how different it is to teach adults than children.

Here, 25% of our weekly teaching load are adult students.

Which means that we understand:

• Adult students have different musical goals than children.
• Adult students want to understand the theory and how music is made.
• Adult students are often hesitant to learn because they feel like they can’t do it, or it’s too late:
  • But, we know that adult students CAN absolutely learn guitar, it just takes the right approach and a teacher who knows how to:
    • Choose the right materials for your success
    • Introduce introductory material without it feeling childish
    • Communicate key concepts effectively so you will truly understand the music
    • Teach you how to practice effectively at home (a skill in itself that is often neglected in lessons)

Also, we know that adult students get MUCH more nervous when performing in recitals than children, which usually means that many choose not to perform at all, or they are the only adult in a recital full of children.

That’s why we have our informal Adult Recital Happy Hours, where our adult students can come together in a fun, casual atmosphere, and perform for each other without the pressure of a traditional recital.
