Why Private Music Lessons?
Taking private music lessons with a qualified instructor is the most effective way to learn a musical instrument. In your private lessons, you or your child will receive individual attention and highly specialized training from our talented instructors in the instrument of your choice. You will learn from the same instructor each week, which is crucial for developing the student-teacher relationship that makes individual lessons effective and fun.
Here are the 5 ways our private music lessons stand out as the best!
Our teaching and curriculum is guided by the following 5 principles that guarantee exceptional progress in a fun and inspiring atmosphere:
-
Teach Students to LOVE the music
“To play a wrong note is insignificant, but to play without passion is unforgivable”
We all know that you have to LOVE the music to play it well and to be inspired to learn it. At first, students tend to love the music that they already know, because it is familiar and easily accessible. But if students only learn the music they are already familiar with, they are not growing as students, or as people. Here we want to TEACH students to love music they have never heard before. We believe that students can LEARN to love music of any kind if it is presented in an inspiring way that invites the student to understand the secrets of its greatness. Classical music is such a deep and comprehensive art form, most students don’t come in already in love with classical music. And we wouldn’t expect them to! That’s where we come in. We inspire students to love the music. Through our teaching, we introduce students to the most exciting music available at different levels. And, in the Inspiration Corner on our app, students can view personally curated recordings and videos of some of the world’s greatest music, with insight and listening guides provided by us.
-
Encourage Students To Explore
An important part of our program involves encouraging students to explore music on their own. Students earn fun badges and awards through our app for educational activities like going to live music concerts, composing their own songs, performing at their school talent show, and more!
-
Teach the Fundamentals and Beyond
All students, regardless of instrument, will of course be taught the basic fundamentals of music including:
- Reading music notation
- Listening and ear training
- Rhythm and pattern recognition
- Technique and Coordination
- Music Theory, Scales and Chords
But, our lessons go WAY beyond the fundamentals. At appropriate levels, students at Muse Academy will explore deeper areas of music performance and education including:
- Advanced phrase shaping and expression
- Detailed articulation
- Time-period appropriate performance practices and style
- Harmonic Analysis
- Music History

Teach Students How To Practice
Most teachers forget that students aren’t born knowing how to practice! That’s why so many students resist practicing, and then it turns into a battle every time you ask your child to practice, until eventually you just give in and let them stop practicing all together. Well, it turns out, students DON’T hate to practice. They WANT to practice, they just haven’t been taught HOW to practice, so when they sit down at home, they don’t know what to do, they feel lost, they feel like it’s too hard, they can’t do it.
Not here. We understand the challenges children face with practicing. That’s why we spend MOST of our lesson time teaching students how to become self-sufficient at-home practicers. We teach 5 unique, effective strategies for at-home practice, that when followed, will guarantee successful and enjoyable practice at home! -
Motivate Students To Love Practicing!
In addition to teaching students how to practice, we also inspire students to LOVE practicing. We host fun practice challenges to get students EXCITED about practicing. Through our unique student portal app, students can view assignments and notes from their teacher, log their practice time, and view their stats and progress on the app’s Practice Leaderboards.
